Monique Smit is a Dutch pop singer and television celebrity who made her Top Five solo debut in 2007 after garnering fame on a couple reality shows. Born in 1989 in Volendam, she began appearing on Gewoon Jan Smit (a reality show for her older brother, Jan Smit), and also on Just the Two of Us in 2007. She finished in second place behind first-place winner Edwin Evers on the show, and made her solo recording debut with the Top Five single "Wild" in 2007. The following year she released the Top Ten solo album debut Stel Je Voor (2008), which included the hit singles "Blijf Je Vanavond," "Vrouwenalfabet," and "Stel Je Voor," plus "Wild." 2010's Verder placed within the Dutch Top 40. ~ Jason Birchmeier
