About Michi
Artist Biography
With a wispy vocal quality that belies the directness of her lyrics, Michi specializes in billowy yet stimulating ballads and midtempo grooves that recall classic '70s soul, sophisticated pop-R&B of the early '80s, and neo-soul of the '90s. The Los Angeles native got her start in the band Private Island and made her solo debut in 2019. While her first recordings were primarily in a breezy alt-pop vein, her subsequent output for Stones Throw is firmly rooted in R&B with vintage inspirations and a modern feel. Dirty Talk, aided by producers Blake Rhein and Paul Cherry, marked her full-length debut in 2025.
