“It’s all just real-life stuff about how I grew up and who I am,” country artist Meghan Patrick tells Apple Music. Sure enough, the singer—born in 1987 and raised in the small Canadian town of Bowmanville, Ontario—has made her name by being her authentic, unpretentious self. After a number of years slinging bluegrass as lead singer of The Stone Sparrows, her aptly titled 2016 debut album, Grace & Grit, offered raucous roadhouse jams like “Bow Chicka Wow Wow” alongside the gorgeous, romantic balladry of “Be Country with Me.” Country Music Made Me Do It (2018) found her raising hell with “Walls Come Down” and telling her side of the breakup story on “The Bad Guy.” In 2021, Heart on My Glass, with its electrifying title track, signaled a move toward a slightly poppier sound, while retaining all her rough, dirt-road edges.
