In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail.
My first concert was Elton John. One moment he was a piano-playing rocketman, the next he’d reappear in a whole new sparkling outfit, pounding the keys like the stage was on fire. It was chaotic, magical and gloriously over-the-top! What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular?
Grizzly Bear, Shields
Sam Evian, Time to Melt
Weyes Blood, Titanic Rising
Time to Melt is organic, vibrant and very alive, with a live-to-tape approach.
Weyes Blood's voice is majestic, her presence is mystical, her sound, sweeping and cinematic.
Grizzly Bear offers a sweet kind of chaos: cerebral and deeply organic. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song.
“My Best Self”
The opening track of Desire Days, it sits at the heart of the entire record. It’s about self-acceptance, defiance, and the quiet power of letting go. In many ways, this song sets the tone for the emotional and sonic journey that follows. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far?
I played before Spoon at the Calgary Folk Fest. It was pretty surreal. Just me, a sea of people, and this huge open sky. It felt raw, grand, and kind of out-of-body… like being swept up in a wave way bigger than you. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band?
Taking my music on the road with international tours—especially in Europe and Japan. I dream of connecting with audiences in new places, soaking up the culture, and seeing how the songs land across different landscapes and languages.
