Artist Biography
Though MC SQUARE had released a few singles in 2022, it wasn’t until his appearance in the second season of reality TV hip-hop talent hunt MTV Hustle in November of that year that he gained nationwide recognition in India. With a performing name inspired by Einstein’s theory of relativity, the Haryanvi rapper and singer aka Abhishek Baisla scored several breakout hits from the show such as “Ram Ram”, “Chhore Ncr Aale” and “Naina Ki Talwar”—a winning blend of folk-flavoured Indian regional-language rap and 21st-century swag. His triumph in that contest propelled the engineering graduate and aspiring poet from Faridabad to the status of one of the most exciting new hip-hop acts in the country. Unsurprisingly, his skills were quickly enlisted by Bollywood composers and Punjabi pop stars alike, and he appeared on Vikram Montrose’s anthemic “Sher”, from the soundtrack of Selfiee, and Amrit Maan’s head-bopping “Double Black”, both in 2023. Meanwhile, MC SQUARE’s signature sound has continued to win new fans through singles such as the foot-tapping “Laado”, his collab with music producer Hiten.
