Artist Biography
Leaving Records co-founder Matthewdavid gained prominence as part of the Los Angeles experimental beatmaking scene, but his recordings have often drifted away from hip-hop, exploring ambient and new age influences. After titling a 2013 full-length Mindflight, he began releasing new age material as Matthewdavid's Mindflight, starting with the 2015 cassette Ashram. The double LP Trust the Guide and Glide appeared in 2016, followed by A Meditation on Events in 2016, which featured improvised collaborations with Dntel, Mndsgn, and Diva Dompe. In 2017, Matthewdavid's Mindflight shared a split release with Carlos Niño titled SpringrainFlight, and NNA Tapes released the project's Ophiuchus cassette. ~ Paul Simpson
