Acclaimed French alternative singer/songwriter Mathieu Boogaerts debuted in 1995 with the four-track Ondulé Spécial on Remark Records. Featuring a memorably folky Michael Jackson medley, "Beat It/Billie Jean," J'en Ai Marre d'Être Deux (1998) was his commercial breakthrough, reaching number 67 on the French albums chart. 2000 (2002) reached number 25 on the French albums chart. While successive albums were less successful, they found Boogaerts moving in new directions and were generally well received among critics as well as fans. ~ Jason Birchmeier
