Venezuelan urbano artist Maikel Rafael Rico Torres decided to follow in his dad's footprints while in his early teens; even though he went on to fully immerse himself in the urban sounds of contemporary Latin music, his style retained a lingering vallenato influence. Upon moving to Medellin, he found himself writing lyrics for other artists, as well as releasing his first solo singles under the moniker Maisak. His budding career kicked into gear in 2023 when, after a professional meeting with Maluma, the Colombian superstar offered him a contract with his label. His output increased significantly, from a couple of singles each in 2021 and 2022 to five in 2023 and nine in the first nine months of 2024, including his first bona fide hit, "Se Me Olvida," featuring Feid.
