Born in Lebanon and raised in Sweden, R&B singer Maher Zain celebrates his faith through song and stands as one of the Muslim world’s most celebrated contemporary artists.
∙ Although he earned a degree in aeronautical engineering, Zain entered the music industry after college and worked in NYC alongside famed producer RedOne (Lady Gaga, Usher, Pitbull).
∙ After returning home and reconnecting with his faith, he decided to pursue a career as a musical artist, releasing his debut album, Thank You Allah, in 2009.
∙ The joyously reverent Thank You Allah quickly found fans throughout the Muslim world, particularly in Malaysia and Indonesia, where the album went multi-Platinum.
∙ In 2011, Zain’s plaintive ballad “Insha Allah” was nominated for Best Malay Song Performed by a Foreign Artist at the Anugerah Industri Muzik—Malaysia’s equivalent of the Grammy Awards.
∙ He performed in front of the Swedish royal family in 2017 as part of the country’s annual National Day celebration.
