Playing hypnotic, darkly feminist music the band describes as "psychedelic witch prog," South London's Madonnatron features Beth, Stef, Charlie, and Joanie. The group's beginnings were chaotic: When they formed after a rowdy night at the Shacklewell Arms pub, they could barely play their instruments, and their original frontperson left while they were recording their debut album at Trashmouth Studios. However, Madonnatron persevered, and released the single "Sangue Neuf" in 2016 before touring with the Moonlandingz and labelmates Meatraffle. Two more singles, "Tron" and "Headless Children," arrived before the band's self-titled album on Trashmouth in 2017. ~ Heather Phares
