Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. When I was very young, my parents took me to a live organist accompaniment for a screening of the 1925 silent film, The Phantom Of The Opera. The musical themes terrified me and introduced me to the power of instrumental music to tell stories.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? John Prine, German Afternoons Terry Allen, Lubbock (On Everything) These three albums represent a pretty broad cross section of my musical taste. Honestly, it's impossible to narrow down favorites, but these three have been on heavy rotation for decades.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Waning Crescent” Every record I release has a tune that's related to the moon. This is a nod to my dog, Luna. She is the sweetest thing and I love working the concept of the moon into the context of my music so I can always think of her when I listen.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? “I like Michael Walker’s Canyon, Illuminant even more. Walker’s connections to West Texas are more intimate and authentic. And recreating the sounds of pronghorn vocalizations musically is sheer genius.” - Dan Flores
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I want to perform all my work about Palo Duro Canyon in the amphitheater there under the West Texas stars.
