About Luigi Grasso
Italian jazz saxophonist, composer, arranger, and educator Luigi Grasso revels in the jazz tradition from swing and bop to modal and post-bop; he employs a clean, warm tone to encounter vanguard and classical music. His older brother is jazz guitarist Pasquale Grasso. Luigi released A Love Supreme, his debut album, at 13. In 2001, he and Pasquale joined forces to release Dance of the Infidels. Luigi formed a quintet called the Fat Bros 5et that also included Pasquale; they released Wail in 2008. Over the next decade, Grasso was an instructor and session musician. He returned in 2018 with A Coffee for Two, and led a 13-piece big band (with Pasquale on guitar) on The Greenwich Sessions Invitation au Voyage. A year later, he joined the NDR Big Band. In 2023, with the Senzaspine Symphonic Orchestra, he released Dantesca, and 2025's La Dimore Dell'Altrove showcased his compositions and sophisticated arrangements.
