French vocalist Lucienne Boyer began her performance career as a cabaret singer. In the 1920s she advanced to music halls, where she was discovered and presented with the opportunity to perform on Broadway in New York City. After her time in New York City, Boyer returned to France and was a recording star. Her biggest hit came in 1930 with "Parlez-Moi d'Amour," a timeless classic written by Jean Lenoir. After the conclusion of World War II, Boyer's career underwent a resurgence of popularity. Greatest-hits collections of her music were compiled, and "Parlez-Moi d'Amour" was frequently featured on various-artists collections as well.
