Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. One of my earliest musical memories was when my grandparents took me to a an orchestra performance-I was maybe four or so, and it was pure magic to me. Later, seeing operas done by Jacobs School of Music I was entranced by the characters.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Brian Eno, David Byrne, Everything That Happens Will Happen Today David Bowie, Hunky Dory (2015 Remaster) Kishi Bashi, 151A All three of these albums are hugely influential for me-deep, sometimes humorous characters illustrated in songs with fantastic lyrics, melodies, and unique voices-I love these albums.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Greta's Inn” I wrote "Greta's Inn" to show a mystical place in New York City which only appears to artists it chooses to appear for-I imagined my character Zo entering it through a magical door appearing in an alley in the Bowery (near the memory of CBGB, etc.).
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? I'd say playing festivals in Germany has been a highlight for sure, or walking into a bar and hearing one of my songs (My Brooklyn) was an absolute trip. It means a lot to me than anyone outside of myself is getting something from the songs.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I don't have a musical bucket list per say but I'd love to translate some of my stories and characters from songs into film, and in a book I'm writing as well.
