Artist Biography
After establishing himself as a writer for other artists—most notably H.E.R.—the multi-hyphenate R&B musician Lonr. broke through as a solo performer in 2019.
• As a child, Lonr. (pronounced "loner") found it difficult to connect with his peers. He and his mother moved around a lot, and he preferred to spend time alone in his room.
• In solitude, Lonr. dedicated his efforts to teaching himself how to write songs, play instruments, and produce music.
• His first song found its way to enigmatic R&B singer H.E.R., who brought him into her camp as a songwriter. He cowrote two songs on her 2017 self-titled debut LP, which won a Grammy for Best R&B Album.
• Lonr. emerged as a solo artist with the 2019 single “A.M.,” which went viral on TikTok.
• In April 2020, he released his debut EP, Land of Nothing Real. Lonr. tapped H.E.R. for the lead single, “Make the Most,” which reached No. 1 on Billboard's Adult R&B Songs chart.
