Led by brothers Ajay and Jeremy Popoff, California pop-punkers Lit gigged around L.A. for a decade before being discovered, including a stint as the pop-metal band Razzle.
∙ Their signature hit, 1999’s crunchy guitar anthem “My Own Worst Enemy,” won Billboard’s Modern Rock Track of the Year award and was certified double-Platinum.
∙ “Miserable” was one of the most-played rock songs of 2000, and its video featured Baywatch star Pamela Anderson as a man-eating, bikini-clad giant.
∙ Lit covered Twisted Sister’s “I Wanna Rock” for a 2001 tribute album, while singer Dee Snider played an ironic cameo as a mean dad in their video for 1999’s “Zip Lock.”
∙ Butch Walker, known for working with P!nk and Green Day, produced their 2012 album, View From the Bottom, which was dedicated to their recently deceased drummer, Allen Shellenberger.
∙ The video for “Fast,” from their country-tinged 2017 album, These Are the Days, hit No. 1 on the fan-voted CMT Music 12 Pack Countdown.
