Typically masked in a balaclava, rapper and producer Leikeli47 makes danceable, playful hip-hop with bouncy beats that don’t obscure her thought-provoking lyrics.
• She grew up a shy loner in various Brooklyn neighborhoods, including Bed-Stuy, home of her hero, The Notorious B.I.G.
• After releasing two mixtapes (LK-47 Pts. 1 and 2), the rapper made her major label debut with a self-titled 2015 EP, featuring the single “F**k the Summer Up.”
• Her albums Wash and Set (2017) and Acrylic (2018) are part of a planned trilogy called the “Beauty Series.” The theme of the series is beauty salons, which Leikeli has described as “safe havens” for women in the African American community.
• Leikeli says her signature ski masks and bandanas help her overcome stage fright, allowing her “to create, to be free, to be fun.”
