Georgia singer/songwriter Larry Jon Wilson was steeped in the swampy "country soul" sound popularized in the early-to-mid 1970s by the likes of Tony Joe White and Bobbie Gentry. He released four albums for the Monument label in the '70s, and though he was the aforementioned artists' aesthetic equal, he never matched their commercial success. After his final Monument release in '78, he went into semi-retirement, but finally ended his silence 30 years later when he was coaxed into making the all-acoustic album LARRY JON WILSON, which reintroduced him to a whole new generation of listeners who didn't know what they were missing.
