In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. My earliest memories of music were the cds my Mom would listen to around the house like Nana Mouskouri or Anne Murray. She liked to sing while she cleaned. I also remember watching and singing along to musicals like the Sound Of Music on VHS. -Ashley
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Arthur Russell, Calling Out of Context Bobby Caldwell, Heart of Mine / Bobby Caldwell (ハート・オブ・マイン) Fleetwood Mac, Mirage (Deluxe) These albums inspire us as a band-Ashley & Eli Heart of Mine is stacked with cool melodies, super interesting chord progressions and modulations, and awesome sound choices. -Andrew
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Roundelay” I wrote “Roundelay,” using an electric air organ modeled after an accordion. Each chord is actually two chords layered and the chords go in a circle through every major triad. It’s spiraling and ascending but also confusing and unsettling.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? LAKE played in the ruins of a medieval fortress in Gothenburg, Sweden in 2008.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? LAKE would like to spend more time touring in Eastern Europe. Also, we have never been south of the equator, so that would also be amazing!
