About Lady Leshurr
Artist Biography
Malesha O'Garro, aka Lady Leshurr, is a rapper and producer whose oft-confrontational rhymes are belied by a buoyant melodicism. The native of Birmingham, England made her recorded debut in the early 2000s with the first of numerous mixtapes -- her primary format -- and has since refined her witty, sometimes high-speed wordplay while drawing from U.K. garage and grime. After she fended off multiple labels that dangled offers with too many artistic compromises, O'Garro reached a broader audience on her own in 2015, when the video for the fourth episode in her "Queen's Speech" series went viral with plays numbering in the tens of millions. She later signed to major-label RCA and released "Where Are You Now" and "Queen's Speech 6." ~ Andy Kellman
