La Sonora Dinamita is a Colombian cumbia band that’s had global success since the 1980s with such signature songs as “Mi Cucu.”
∙ The group collaborated with a wide array of vocalists, notably tropical star Rodolfo Aicardi and Colombian-Mexican vocalist Margarita la Diosa de la Cumbia.
∙ Two of their songs peaked in the Top 20 of Billboard’s Latin Singles chart: 1987’s “Capullo y Sorullo” on the Hot Latin 50 and 1992’s “Que Te la Pongo (La Inyección)” on Hot Latin Songs.
∙ They’ve had several Top 10 LPs on Billboard’s Regional Mexican chart, including La Tropicalísima, which reached No. 6 in 1990.
∙ In 2018, the band was nominated for Tropical Album of the Year and Tropical Artist of the Year, Duo or Group, at the Billboard Latin Music Awards.
