Formed in 2006, La Maquinaria Norteña is a chart-topping New Mexico norteño group who’ve put a modern spin on traditional Mexican sounds.
∙ La Maquinaria Norteña’s use of saxophone and accordion—instrumentation typical of bandleader Keith Nieto’s native Chihuahua—helped distinguish their music from that of other norteño acts.
∙ Their 2008 album, No Existen Barreras, was executive produced by Daniel Esquivel of the legendary norteño outfit Los Rieleros del Norte.
∙ The band hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart for the first time with 2014’s El Fenómeno, and they did it again the following year with Ya Dime Adiós.
∙ La Maquinaria Norteña earned Grammy Award nominations in both 2015 and 2016 for Best Regional Mexican Music Album.
