Singer and actress Ko Shibasaki, who won a Japan Academy Film Prize for her performance in the acclaimed 2001 coming-of-age movie Go, released her first single in 2002.
∙ Shibasaki’s hit “Tsuki No Shizuku,” the theme song for the fantasy-romance film Yomigaeri, was 2003’s fifth best-selling single in Japan.
∙ Under the name Koh+, she and Masaharu Fukuyama recorded 2007’s New Wave rocker “KISS Shite,” the theme song to the TV detective drama Galileo.
∙ In 2007, her third album, Kiki, debuted at No. 1 on the Japanese charts, and she performed her first live concerts, in Osaka and Tokyo.
∙ Her first 15 singles, which sold a combined 4 million copies, were collected on her chart-topping 2008 greatest-hits album, Single Best.
∙ She made her US film debut opposite Keanu Reeves in the 2013 fantasy-action movie 47 Ronin, playing the daughter of a lord who adopts Reeves’ character.
