With indie pop growing all over Sweden in the mid-'90s, Kent became one of the biggest Swedish bands during that decade. The quartet was formed in Eskilstuna in 1990 by singer/songwriter Joakim Berg and lead guitarist Sami Sirvio. In 1995, their eponymous debut album hit the shelves. In contrast to the distorted qualities of the debut, follow-up album Verkligen had some melancholic songs and sounded very much like Radiohead. The single "Kram (Sa Nara Far Ingen Ga)" became a hit, as did 1997's "Om Du Var Har" and its accompanying album, Isola. Berg has also recorded with Cardigans guitarist Peter Svensson as Paus. ~ Tommy Gunnarsson
