Equally comfortable with indie rock, traditional country, and jazz-pop, Kelly Hogan explored all of those directions and more in her career. A former member of the Jody Grind and the Rock*A*Teens, she released her first solo album, The Whistle Only Dogs Can Hear, in 1996. Four years later, she released Beneath the Country Underdog, which featured Jon Langford's Pine Valley Cosmonauts. A year later, she returned with Because It Feel Good, featuring covers of songs by the Statler Brothers, Smog, and Randy Newman. Hogan collaborated with the likes of Andrew Bird and Drive-By Truckers, and she performed as part of Neko Case's backing band. Her fourth album, I Like to Keep Myself in Pain, was released in 2012. ~ Heather Phares
