Canadian composer, musician, and arranger Kara-Lis Coverdale creates immersive, surreal works which blend electronic and acoustic instrumentation. She has a background in traditional modes of composition, and has worked extensively as an organist and music director at several churches. On recordings like 2014's A 480, she loops vocal samples into hypnotic, transformative patterns. 2017's Grafts expands on this technique, applying the process to keyboard arrangements. 2025's From Where You Came is a more expansive synthesis of orchestral and electronic elements. Aside from her solo works, Coverdale has written several film and theatre scores, and has worked with Tim Hecker, Actress, Lyra Pramuk, and others.
