Artist Biography
Pakistani singer-songwriter Kaifi Khalil revives the folk music of the region by giving it a pop and R&B spin—and has found millions of listeners across the world in the process. The Karachi-born artist was inclined towards Sufi songs from a young age, but his dreams of making his own didn’t come easy, and he had to work odd jobs (including heavy labour at construction sites) to make ends meet and fund his art. His big brake came through covers and originals shared online which caught the attention of Coke Studio’s producer Xulfi, a veteran of the Pakistani pop and rock circuit. Paired with hip-hop artist Eva B and singer Abdul Wahab Bugti, Khalil dropped a relatable and transparent verse on “Kana Yaari”. He built on that success with 2021 single “Kahani Suno”, with follow-up “Kahani Suno 2.0” upping his storytelling game in Balochi to accrue millions of streams as he sits atop charts in Pakistan and beyond.
