About Juke Ross
Artist Biography
Guyanese folk singer Juke Ross learned to play guitar and began writing songs while in medical school as a way to pass the time when he wasn’t studying.
∙ The very first song he wrote, the sparse and soulful “Colour Me,” was a viral hit in 2017 and led to him becoming the first Guyanese artist to earn a US major-label deal.
∙ Electronic producer/DJ Kygo chose the 2019 single “Burned By the Love” for his Sunset Sounds mix—one of ten times Ross’ songs have appeared on official iTunes playlists.
∙ “Atlanta,” the lead track from his 2020 full-length debut, Chapter 2, drew praise from Rolling Stone, which likened his hushed vocals to Paul Simon’s.
∙ Along with Wyclef Jean, he was one of the first artists chosen to participate in Save the Music Foundation’s J Dilla Music Tech Grant, which brings music production education to schools.
