About Judee Sill
Artist Biography
One of pop music's most tragic figures, Judee Sill was a former prostitute and hardcore heroin addict who cleaned up and released two of the most gorgeous and original folk albums of the 1970s, JUDEE SILL and HEART FOOD. Sill was the first artist signed to David Geffen's Asylum label and with talent to spare she was poised for stardom. Sadly, Sill was lost in the music business shuffle, and a painful back injury forced her to return to heavy drug use, which ultimately led to her death in 1979. A previously unreleased collection of songs was mixed by avant-garde producer/songwriter Jim O'Rourke in the early 2000s and finally came out in 2005.
