In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. My parents always played good stuff in the car and in the house. Some of the first music I remember hearing aside from the usual Gospel music they played was Dave Brubeck's Take Five. That melody has been in my head for as long as I can remember.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? D'Angelo, Voodoo Jimi Hendrix, Band of Gypsys (50th Anniversary / Live) Julian Lage, Live in Los Angeles Band Of Gypsys is my favorite Hendrix album; he's the reason I picked up the guitar. Voodoo changed the way I heard and listened to music. Julian Lage opened my eyes to a level of sensitivity and expression I didn't know was possible on the guitar.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Days Past” I love this tune because it's built on a simple theme, but it lends itself to musical and mental exploration. I was reflecting on my past when I wrote it, looking back on experiences and relationships with both joy and sadness. It's bittersweet.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Recording "Here & Now" was a highlight. It was my first time opening up my recording process to include other musicians and engineers. I got to see it through from conception to release, and I'm really proud of how it turned out. It sounds like me.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I really just want to make more records, play more shows, reach more people. I have so far to go as an artist, and I'm excited for the journey.
