JP Harris cuts an intriguing figure in contemporary country music. He blends classic honky tonk and '70s outlaw with old-time folk and blues influences, though his smart, dark-witted songs have a personality all their own and match his maverick reputation. After more than a decade living off the grid in New England, he arrived in Nashville with a confident, cohesive sound, releasing his 2011 debut, I'll Keep Calling, under the banner JP Harris and the Tough Choices. Through touring and a pair of follow-up albums, he built up a solid national profile, then switched gears with 2021's clawhammer banjo set Don't You Marry No Railroad Man. Harris signed with Bloodshot Records in 2024 and with the help of friend and collaborator JD McPherson recorded his fifth album, JP Harris Is a Trash Fire.
