Rapper Johnny Cinco is a stalwart of Atlanta’s independent hip-hop scene who was formerly signed to Quality Control Music.
• The name Johnny Cinco comes from a family nickname, J5, inspired by the 1994 superhero comedy Blankman.
• In the late 2000s, Johnny Cinco and Yakki formed Hella Coppa. The duo collaborated with Future on the 2011 single “Ask Yo Hoe Bout Me.”
• Johnny Cinco gained widespread recognition with the 2014 solo mixtape John Popi. Released via Quality Control, the Atlanta label that would soon become a hip-hop powerhouse.
• In the mid-2010s, Johnny Cinco and fellow Atlanta rhymer Rich Homie Quan engaged in a public beef, trading diss tracks about each other.
• By 2016, Johnny Cinco had left Quality Control to release his music independently.
