Australian rockers Jet sold out all 1,000 copies of their independently released debut EP, 2002’s Dirty Sweet, in one week.
∙ In 2003, the group’s heroes Mick Jagger and Keith Richards selected them to open a handful of dates on The Rolling Stones’ Australian tour.
∙ Their swaggering, garage-rocking debut album, 2003’s Get Born, was certified eight-times Platinum in Australia.
∙ “Are You Gonna Be My Girl,” Jet’s first single, was a Top 30 hit on three US charts and landed in the Top 40 in eight other countries.
∙ At the 2004 ARIA Music Awards, the group won six of the seven honors for which they were nominated, including Album of the Year, Single of the Year, and Best Band.
∙ Punk godfather Iggy Pop invited Jet in 2008 to record a cover of “Real Wild Child (Wild One)” in tribute to ’50s Australian rock legend Johnny O’Keefe.
∙ In 2009, they played both all-star bushfire-relief charity shows in Sydney and Melbourne, the latter of which set a record for the largest paid concert in the nation's history.
