Blind since childhood, blues-rock guitarist and singer, Jeff Healey, developed a unique lap-held style of playing. In 1985 he formed the Jeff Healey Band and gigged across Canada, eventually releasing his debut album, SEE THE LIGHT (1988). The album sold nearly two million copies and was nominated for a Grammy. In 1989, Healey and his band appeared in the Patrick Swayze film ROAD HOUSE, also recording songs for its soundtrack album. The following year’s studio album HELL TO PAY (1990) displayed a hard rock influence and nearly matched the success of the debut. After a five-year hiatus Healey returned with the blistering GET ME SOME in 2000, before pursuing his passion for hot jazz on AMONG FRIENDS (2002) and ADVENTURES IN JAZZLAND (2004). Healey eventually returned to rock for 2008's MESS OF BLUES, but died of cancer before the album's release.
Jeff Healey has also released music as a member of The Jeff Healey Band and Jeff Healey & The Jazz Wizards.
