Artist Biography
Puerto Rican reggaetón singer J Alvarez got his first big break when he was introduced to producer and Flow Music founder DJ Nelson, who signed him in 2009.
∙ His debut single, the dance-friendly ballad “La Pregunta,” spent 49 weeks on Billboard’s Hot Latin Rhythm Songs chart, peaking at No. 5.
∙ The video for “El Amante,” his 2012 collaboration with megastar Daddy Yankee, has racked up 270 million views.
∙ Otro Nivel de Música, his sophomore LP, was nominated for Best Urban Music Album at the 2012 Latin Grammy Awards.
∙ In 2013, he was nominated for three Premio Nuestro awards: Urban Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, and Album of the Year.
∙ Alvarez earned his first Platinum single with 2019’s gritty, noir-ish track “Haters.”
