Australian pop singer Isaiah Firebrace (aka Isaiah) is a soulful baritone vocalist who became prominent after winning the eighth season of The X Factor Australia. Born in Portland, Victoria in 1999 into an Aboriginal family (his father is Yorta Yorta, and his mother is Gunditjmara), Isaiah grew up in Moama, New South Wales, where he became interested in performing at a young age. Initially, he garnered attention after entering a regional singing competition in Melbourne, where he caught the attention of vocal coach David Jaanz. Impressed, Jaanz offered Isaiah a scholarship to his Melbourne-based institution School of Singing. For a year, the aspiring singer made the six-hour round trip from Moama to Melbourne by public transportation to take vocal lessons. His perseverance paid off after he landed a spot on The X Factor Australia in 2016. A fan favorite, Isaiah ultimately won the competition, after which he released the single "It's Gotta Be You." The song was included on his 2016 debut album, Isaiah, which peaked at number 12 in Australia. In 2017, he represented Australia in the Eurovision Song Contest, where he finished in ninth place with the song "Don't Come Easy." ~ Matt Collar
