The eleven members of the South Korean girl group I.O.I came together via the first season of the South Korean competition series Produce 101.
• The group’s name is an acronym for “Ideal of Idol.”
• Though short-lived, I.O.I had several hits, including 2016’s “Whatta Man,” which drew on the legacies of Linda Lyndell’s 1968 hit “What a Man” and Salt-N-Pepa and En Vogue’s 1993 update, “Whatta Man.”
• I.O.I reached No. 1 on the Gaon Digital Chart with their 2016 hit “Very Very Very.”
• Since the group’s disbandment in 2017, all of the members have either pursued solo careers as singers or actors or joined other girl groups.
Members of I.O.I include, or have included, CHUNG HA, KIMSEJEONG, Yoo Yeon Jung, CHOI YOOJUNG, 임나영, ZHOU JIE QIONG, SOMI, and Kim Sohye.
