The Hunter Brothers story would make a great premise for a TV series, but it’s all true. Luke, J.J., Ty, Brock, and Dusty Hunter grew up in the tiny town of Shaunavon, Saskatchewan, where they sang together in church and made up songs while helping out on the family farm. They all played in either junior- or minor-league hockey leagues until injuries sent each of them back to farm life. Ultimately, they embraced their shared passion for music and became Canadian country stars. The 2016 single “El Dorado,” preceding their debut album, Getaway, introduced the world to the Hunter Brothers’ blend of feel-good country-pop with a wide-open sensibility and the kind of vocal harmony blend one can get only from family. The awards quickly started rolling in, and when the group topped the Canadian country charts with the surging, hook-slathered love song “Lost” from their follow-up album, State of Mind, it was clear that the Hunter Brothers’ sound had serious staying power.
