The nasyid boom of the mid-’90s broke every convention in the commercial music rule book, and Hijjaz were among the acts that enjoyed unprecedented success. With minimal instrumentation, pleasant harmonies and lyrics that resonated spiritually, the quartet have since become prolific, continually innovating to respond to the latest musical trends. As talent producers, they’ve also discovered the likes of Inteam and Mestica along the way. In 2017, a stint on Gema Gegar Vaganza reintroduced Hijjaz to a new audience, making songs like “Sumayyah” and “Fatamorgana” hits all over again.
