Soon after the reggae/ska-inflected outfit became a local top-selling number. His solo career began in 1992 with the release of E Batumare followed by 1997's Santorini Blues recorded in Los Angeles, CA and 2000's O Som Do Sim featuring contributions from Cássia Eller, Sandra de Sá and Marcos Valle. In addition, Herbert Vianna produced records performed by the Brazilian punk ensemble Plebe Rude.
