Haken are a London-based progressive rock band who started off playing relatively straightforward prog metal on early albums like 2010's Aquarius, then expanded their approach to deliver a kaleidoscopic meld of prog metal, jazz fusion, electronic pop, and anthemic rock on 2013's The Mountain. They deliberately wove new wave elements into 2016's Affinity, their international breakout album. 2018's Vector was a concept album about the catatonic victim of a psychotic doctor. Two years later, Virus directly extended the narrative as COVID-19 affected the world. 2023's Fauna expanded their already diverse musical universe even further, roping in elements of djent and dub. Featuring a complete play-through of Fauna and a career-spanning second set, the concert LP Liveforms: An Evening with Hak appeared in 2025.
