Taking the basic tenets of "cold wave" -- a European subgenre of electronic music that further expanded on the minimalist arrangements and detached lyrical style of pioneers like Kraftwerk -- and updating them for a new generation is the calling card of Gwendoline, the underground duo from Rennes, France. After turning heads with their debut album, Après c'est gobelet! (2022), the pair found a unique way to earn exposure for their music: a fittingly satirical short film that played festivals around the world.
