Get Cape, Wear Cape, Fly is the nom-de-plume of Southend, U.K., singer-songwriter Sam Duckworth. The one-time hardcore show promoter turned acoustic-emo songwriter comes across as a 21st-century Billy Bragg--without the overtly political song content--not least because of the broad Estuary English delivery. Duckworth maintained the intensity of the hardcore scene that spawned him, while adding a much-needed dimension of intimacy and sensitivity. The eagerly anticipated debut full-length, THE CHRONICLES OF A BOHEMIAN TEENAGER, was finally released in September 2006 and followed by SEARCHING FOR THE HOWS AND WHYS in March 2008.
