About Geri Halliwell
Artist Biography
As Ginger Spice, Geri Halliwell was one of the wild cards in the ’90s girl band Spice Girls, adding sauciness and vigor to the quintet’s appearances before her departure from the group in 1998. Born Geraldine Estelle Horner in Watford, England, in 1972, Halliwell was a model and dancer before she successfully auditioned for the Spice Girls in 1994. Halliwell was the standard-bearer for the group’s “girl power,” known for her flame-red hair and penchant for wearing Union Jack-festooned dresses. After two wildly successful albums, 1996’s Spice and 1997’s Spiceworld, as well as a 1997 movie and countless TV appearances, Halliwell departed the Spice Girls and embarked on a solo career. Schizophonic, released in 1999, spawned four hit singles, including the flirtatious “Mi Chico Latino.” Halliwell released two more solo albums, 2001’s Scream If You Wanna Go Faster and 2005’s Passion, and in 2007 she reunited with the Spice Girls, with the band embarking on multiple comeback tours in the 2000s and 2010s.
