Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter and label owner George Clanton's music is a nostalgic yet technology-forward blend of influences such as synth pop, trip-hop, and alternative rock. He is often regarded as one of the most visible figures associated with the vaporwave scene, particularly for his 100% Electronica label, though his own music generally avoids the genre's irony, instead focusing on emotive songwriting. Though he first began making music under different pseudonyms, including lo-fi synth pop as Mirror Kisses and vaporwave as ESPRIT, he switched to his given name with 2015's 100% Electronica, which fused the sound of his previous projects. Two of his most popular albums, 2018's Slide and 2023's Ooh Rap I Ya, evoked '90s dance-pop, alternative dance, and trip-hop, earning comparisons to artists like George Michael and Seal. Clanton also released collaborations with 311's Nick Hexum (self-titled, 2020) and TV Girl (Fauxllennium, 2024).
