Los Angeles-based Geneva Jacuzzi produces surrealist lo-fi art that spans recordings, music videos, installations, and unique, character-driven performances. Active since the early 2000s, her brand of tripped-out synth pop helped establish the aesthetic that was eventually termed hypnagogic pop by the end of the decade, yet her work was always more theatrical than her peers, taking influence from sci-fi, pantomime, and the performance art-driven side of new wave. Her first official album, 2010's Lamaze, contained highlights drawn from several self-issued CD-R releases, and 2016's Technophelia, a mixture of studio and home recordings, was more polished but no less strange and original. Triple Fire, an album of darkwave and alternative dance, appeared in 2024.
