G.B.H. were at the point of the hardcore spear when U.K. punk started mutating in a mirror image of its American cousin. Along with Discharge and the Exploited, G.B.H. codified the raw sounds of British street punk, tackling the Thatcher-era’s clueless middle and upper class with their caustic lyrics and unstoppable buzzsaw assault. A prime influence on thrash metal’s mid-'80s renaissance, G.B.H. have lent inspiration to massive acts like Metallica and Slayer while continuing on their own uncompromising path. Still active and touring, they show little sign of slowing down. As long as G.B.H. are around, punk’s not dead.
