∙ Japanese power pop band Fujifabric scored a record deal after breaking through with “Sakura No Kisetsu”—the first of their four singles themed around the seasons.
∙ “Aoi Tori” was the band’s first Top 10 hit on the Japanese charts, thanks in part to its appearance at the end of the horror film Nightmare Detective.
∙ “Sugar!!”—one of the last tracks written by original frontman Masahiko Shimura before his death—was selected as the theme song for Nippon Professional Baseball’s 2010 season.
∙ Shimura wrote “Bye Bye” and “Doki Doki” for J-Pop duo Puffy AmiYumi, who now dedicate those songs to him during live performances.
∙ Their tracks have been selected as themes for the anime series Blue Spring Ride, Space Brothers, and Silver Spoon.
∙ Actor/musician Takayuki Yamada cowrote and performed on “Cannes Holiday,” which opens his 2017 mockumentary, Takayuki Yamada’s Cannes Movie Festival.
