Artist Biography
Led by Mauro Refrosco, the New York-based group Forro in the Dark takes its name and its inspiration from the Brazilian traditional dance/musical form of forro. While conventional forro is an acoustic style involving accordion and percussion, Refrosco and company reinvented the style by incorporating pop, R&B, electronics, and more for a dazzling sound that is truly a world music fusion, as realized on their 2006 debut album, THE FIRES OF SAO JOAO.
