With a tendency to incorporate elements of musical landscapes from all corners of the earth into their melodic indie rock, Foreign Born was somewhat a fitting name for the California group founded by singer Matt Popieluch and guitarist Lewis Pesacov. The pair met at San Francisco State University, added the rhythm section of Garrett Ray and Ariel Rechtshaid, and relocated to Los Angeles. While the band flitted from one respected indie label to another (Dim Mak, Secretly Canadian), their records earned the praise of record critics galore and a steady fan base.
